Keep in mind, grief is not a straight path. It zig zags, winds and turns back on itself. But at some point, the color begins to return and the clouds begin to part. This painting contains a lot of symbolism.

Pathways and ladders - your way is not always clear and some paths you take end up going nowhere. Often it is not a smooth path but a steep ladder you have to attack, rung by rung
Droplets - the tears still fall...but maybe not as often
Mushrooms - the only thing that grows in wet, dark places
House - your soul is beginning to heal and feel the strength of a strong foundation
Trees - still barren but with hope of new growth

Hello and welcome to my site! I hope to take you on a journey of peace, joy, and imagination. I am Anita Hillsley and I have been an Artist in Colorado for over 30 years, currently residing in Fort Collins. The roots of Hillsley Art began when I was growing up in Michigan. My passion for patterns and designs played out in drawing elaborate plants and flowers that my cousin and I lovingly referred to as "Moon Flowers". I casually played with my techniques over the years as I pursued my love of teaching and education. Then, my life took an abrupt left turn with the passing of my long time partner and husband.
